Professor Stich’s article, “The Gift of Embracing Risk: Responsibility as Practice in Aerial Dance,” co-authored with colleague Julianna Hane of Winthrop University, was recently published in the Journal of Dance Education, a peer-reviewed publication that presents the latest developments in dance education research and practice.
Stich and Hane’s research contributes to an emerging academic dialogue about aerial dance in higher education, including the development of standard expectations for teaching aerial dance. Both authors draw heavily upon their experiences working with BA/BS dance degree students enrolled in aerial coursework, a unique offering of both the dance programs at Dixie State University and Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
